Regarding the term “Gaelic”

It's what people born outside of Ireland who don't speak 'Irish' call the language. It's not inaccurate (though it can confuse it with Scottish Gaelic, which is pretty similar anyway) but Irish-speakers call it 'Irish' when speaking English so it's better to say 'Irish' - but 'Irish Gaelic' if differentiating it from Scottish and 'Gaeilge' is what it calls itself.
